Alone again --almost

Quincy and Natalie finally found a house they liked and move out of my house the middle of February. It is with mixed emotions I see them go. I am so happy for them that they can finally have their very own place after having their things in storage for a couple of years, and living under others peoples roofs. It will be great for the children to have more space to play in.
On the other hand I am sorry to see them leave. I have enjoyed having them live here. It has been so nice to have the noise and the company and the activity around here. Most of all it has been great to have the grand children so close at hand and watching their happy little faces everyday. I will miss them.
I still have Trevor living here on and off and that is also nice company, and I am glad he can be here between work assignments.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow -------Uncle

Doesn't it look like a picture postcard? Our big snow storm in February 2010. It was beautiful, but as you can see from the following pictures it is a lot of work digging out from under 28 " of snow. We couldn't open the doors, and the gutters and down drains were frozen so when it started to melt the water could not run down from the roof and instead came in through the kitchen window for several days till the down drains melted. It was beautiful and most counties ran out of budget for snow removal. But please we have had enough for this season. We are looking forward to some sun and flowers.

While the others are battling the snow Tatum is practicing her crawling. She just doesn't understand why she goes backwards instead of forward.

My garden is a winter wonderland.

There is supposed to be a car under there.

Even the welcome mat is snowed under.

We had many dangerous long ice cycles everywhere. The once on the top roof were twice as long.

Interesting snow formations on my neighbor's deck.

Even the garage light got a load of snow.

My neighbor Te has a snow blower and he came and helped too. He is always good about clearing my driveway for me.

Quincy felt he needed help clearing the driveway and the car, so he solicited help from as far away as Dubai. Actually their friend from Dubai had meetings in DC, and got snowed in and stayed with us till he could get on a plane. Nice visit.

Jason climbed out the window so he could shovel the snow away from the door.

Trevor climbed out my bedroom window to remove a foot of snow and ice off the small roof so it will stop dripping water into the kitchen window. He didn't fall off thank goodness.
